Eric Richmond

A London based photographer.
Eric Richmond works mainly with performing arts such as dance companies, theatre, musicians and circus performers. I really like his work because he likes to experiment with different techniques and is creative with his subject. Many of his images are published on either posters, brochures and websites. He has also had the odd one published onto a CD cover.
Looking at his portfolio you can see he explores different lighting effects to create different but unique subjects. He says "The most valuable asset a photographer has is their own identity, it's unique."
I like to experiment and be creative in what ever I do and richmonds work really inspires me to do this more.
He also said "I'm never asked to hold back, the challenge for me is to take more risks than I do." I personally feel the same and hold back too often but will begin to push myself and not loose confidence.
Although he says he holds back, looking at his work you wouldn't believe this to be true because they all look great.
I found this photographer on 'The association of Photographers' but there wasn't much information about him to find but wanted to include him to my case studies because I liked his work so much.
He has his own website but it was filled with just portfolio images.

Richmond has also photographed several celebrities such as Clint Eastwood, Darren Brown and many more

Seamus Ryan

Born 1964

He was born in London but moved with his family to Dublin, Ireland where he grew up.
Many of Ryan's family were known to the public, his father was an influential figure in Bohemian, Dublin, his auntie was an actress (Kathleen Ryan) another aunt was married to painter Patrick Swift and also a brother to an Irish publisher named John Ryan.
While in Ireland Seamus Ryan studied at college in Environmental management but later noticed his passion for photography.
Later he moved back to London during 1984 to begin his photography career.
Ryan Assisted photographer Alasdair Ogilivie who specialised in still life and advertising.
He opened his very own studio during 1988 and beganconcentrating on advertising and editorial work.

Seamus Ryan has worked for a wide variety of clients such as the BBC, Oxfam, Guinness, Nike and many more.
Ryan has a strong passion for portraiture and has involved the public to participate in his large experiments to explore different possibilities of portraiture and he did this in the heart of Columbia road flower market during 2006. This was part of a project called 'The Sunday Shoot' which can be viewed on the website www.sundayshoot.com. The aim was to show different aspects of identity, spirit and personality.
While looking through his portfolio I recongnise some of his work from the BBC adverts such as paraolympic Ellie Simmons and listerine.
He has photographed many well known celebrities such as Billy Connolly, Lily Allen, Frank Skinner, Rupert Grint and many more.
Ryan is now known internationally and has a permanent collection of his work in the national portrait gallery in London.
During 2007 Seamus Ryan set up a studio called boothnation.
He has received many awards for his work one of which is from the Association of Photographers and D&AD which is also shown in the London portrait gallery.
I believe the concept is great because everybodys individual face is different and will get some great shots of all shapes and lines.
